MEGASTAR mania has struck the southeast, with Queenslanders on high alert as their idols parade through town during the biggest fortnight of international music ever seen.
The Gold Coast was yesterday abuzz as glamorous American songstress Beyonce Knowles sashayed around Marina Mirage on the arm of her rapper husband Jay-Z.
Fans have Irish rocker Bono to thank for the southeastern sojourn, with Jay-Z in town to add a little hip-hop support to U2's mammoth roadshow and Knowles traipsing across the country in support of her man.
Flanked by a burly, bald-headed security guard and poorly disguised in almost matching dark shades, the pair scoffed a late seafood lunch at the Gold Coast's exclusive Omeros Bros restaurant.
Keen-eyed locals said the couple arrived about 3.30pm and stayed for an hour before exiting via the ritzy Palazzo Versace.
Beyonce took advantage of the first signs of summer with a jaw-droppingly short yellow number teamed with sky-high black heels, while Jay-Z dressed down in three-quarter cargo shorts, a black T-shirt and runners.
