Akshay Kumar says no to Promotions for a cause

Akshay Kumar was in Delhi yesterday to promote the Special Olympics of which he is the brand ambassador. Special Olympics is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering individuals with intellectual disabilities to become physically fit, productive and respected members of society through sports training and competition. Akshay was to run to and fro from the Red Fort to Sheesh Dargah in Chandni Chowk on Sunday morning for the Special Olympics, and decided not to promote his film at the event.

Akshay decided to have a recce of the location where he had to run next morning. During the recce, he saw several posters of Chandni Chowk to China .

Our source said, “Akshay asked an employee from Warner Brothers who was present with Akshay why the film was being so heavily publicised even though it would only release in mid-January.

The Warner Brothers employee informed Akshay that since he was going to run on the same route the next day for the Special Olympics and that would attract a lot of media attention, it would be a nice way to promote the film.”

Surprisingly, Akshay did not take advantage of the situation. “Akshay was very unhappy on hearing this. He immediately asked them to remove all the posters from the route on Saturday night.

He said that since he was there for the Special Olympics and not for the film’s promotion he did not think there should be any Chandni Chowk to China posters on that route next morning,” said the source.

Everybody was surprised but Akshay made it very clear that he did not want the focus to shift from the cause.

The lead actors of Chandni Chowk to China don’t want to leave any stone unturned for the success of the film. On Sunday morning, Deepika Padukone went to Tirupati to pray for the success of the film. She messaged Akshay from there: `I am in Tirupati and I will bring prasad for you.’

Akshay too then suddenly decided to go to the Golden Temple in Amritsar after he had attended the Special Olympics. In reply, Akshay sent a text message to Deepika that read: `I am going to the Golden Temple and I will also bring prasad for you.’
