ISLAMABAD: Army chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani met with President Asif Ali Zardari here at the presidency and discussed with him the issues relating to national security.
According to the presidency sources, the one-on-one meeting between President Zardari and Army chief Kayani lasted for about one and half hours.
Gen. Kayani apprised the president about the recent decisions taken during the formation commanders’ conference, sources said, adding that issues concerning national security, regional situation and armed forces were also discussed at length.
They expressed the resolve that armed forces were fully ready to defend the country’s borders.
On this occasion, President Zardari said that no compromise would be made about the national security. He hoped that India would respond positively to the Islamabad offer of joint probe in the wake of Mumbai attacks.
According to sources, President said nobody would be allowed to challenge the writ of government anywhere in the country.
