SWAT: The girl schools all across the district here gave a deserted and forlorn look, following the militants’ threats for a total close down of the girl schools from today, while the government is seen apathetic to this horrible situation.
All the girl schools have accordingly been closed on the dictates of the militants in the district here, while the parents of the children are facing great difficulties, as the militants’ given deadline has expired from yesterday and much to the shock of the parents the local administration, provincial and federal governments have thus far failed to come forward with any strategy for saving the academic careers of these unfortunate girls and vexed parents. Some parents finding no alternative have started migrating to other parts of the country for education of their girl-children, while the poor parents having obtained the school transfer certificates of their children still wondering where to take them for the continuation of their studies.
EDO Education, Sher afzal Khan told Geo News that the provincial governments had been apprised of the threats of the Taliban and the difficulties of the citizens due to the girl schools’ forced closure in the district, but the provincial government has not yet come out with their final decision in this regard. The government schools are to open in March, while the private schools managements in their discussions with the district administration had expressed their fears that they could not continue teaching the girls in view of the threats of the Taliban and for security reasons, however, the district administration had advised the private schools to continue taking classes of the girls as usual.
