MELBOURNE: The first grand slam tennis tournament – Australian Open – is beginning from Monday in Melbourne where many leading players from all over the world will be seen in action.
All players for the last many days are busy in preparing for the Australian Open Tennis and most of them participated in various events held in Australia to adjust themselves to the atmosphere.
Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic are being termed favourites in the men’s events while Jelena Jankovic, Ana Ivanovic and the William Sisters are being said to be stronger rivals in the women’s events.
Djokovic will defend her title in men’s singles but defending champion of women’s singles Maria Sharapova has withdrawn from the Australian Open amid fitness concerns.
